In a few weeks World Cup will be here to the delight of many around the cities. In Minneapolis Brit's is billing itself as World Cup headquarters and is including a soccer movie as part of it's World Cup kick off. Speaking of Brits, check out their Shakespeare on the Lawn and summer movie schedule (kicks off late summer).
Social Secretary is putting money down on Nomad for this year's World Cup good timing ways. If you get in their bracket there is a t-shirt, special mug that comes with special refill prices $4 during the tourney. And they are hosting a block party on June 12th, to kick it off.
So Brit's or Nomad, Minneapolis has you covered. Is there a better way to start thinking globally? Probably not.

Hard at Work Sass-ifying your Home?
Talk of lounging on decks and firing up the grill was all the rage on Friday. Of course all that time outside of your house = staring at the house and yard = a whole new list of projects. So if you are hard at work sprucing up your abode considering the following:
- Check out the farmers market for great deals on healthy flowers and vegetable plants. Often you'll find you get more plant for your dollar than the hardware/superstore chain outlets and get a chance to support local business.
- Wish your house was a little more green? There is a Green Home Happy Hour on Wednesday 5/26 @ 1616 Minnehaha pkwy 5:30 - 8pm. Great forum to ask questions and pick up some ideas.
- If you go on a landscaping attack check with your local garden center as many of them accept the plastic pots back to be recycled/reused.
Pineapple-Chile Margarita
- 8 (3/4- to 1-inch) chunks peeled pineapple
- 4 slices red jalapeƱo chile with seeds
- 1/2 cup 100% blue agave silver tequila
- 3 tablespoons fresh lime juice
- 3 tablespoons Simple Syrup
- 2 tablespoons Cointreau or other orange liqueur
- 2 cups ice cubes, divided

Think I'll go for a walk outside now, Summer Sun's calling my name
Ah yes, the Silver Platters - best TV song act ever! It may on be May but that sun dancing on the leaves outside my window is most certainly a summer sun. If this weekend has you thinking about summer might I suggest a little road trip? The fair city of Jordan is hosting a valley bike tour on the 26th of June. There are four routes depending on riding level: 12 mile Town Hall, 20 mile Radio Tower, 35 mile Czech Trek and 60-80 mile Monty Marathon. If only they a had a 6 mile Beer league ride .....

Where will you be this weekend?
It's not a question of "if" you'll be outside this weekend, it is a question of where. Be sure to check out the art-a-whirl line up and galleries in NE. Uptowners can delight in the Lyn Lake Street Fest. If you don't want to spend the weekend in Mpls, check out the bike trails as they are sure to be popular; http://www.minnesotamonthly.com/media/Minnesota-Monthly/Travel-Leisure/Traveler-Resources/Minnesota-Biking-2007-2008/Bike-Trails/Twin-Cities-Area-Bike-Trails/.

Rain, Rain Go Away!
Cross your fingers, the weekend is looking like it will be rain free and we might just see that shiny radiant orb. No need to hunker down in the mean time there is plenty of music and eats to be had.
This is Craft Beer Month at Common Roots, gander the events schedule here: http://www.commonrootscafe.com/events.htm. If beer isn't your thing, Hell's Kitchen is hosting Iron Bartender every Sunday through June 20th - stop in and see who is up to the challenge: http://www.hellskitcheninc.com/Special-Events.html.
If you are looking for something more low-key how about checking out the Dead Sea Scrolls on display at the Science Museum; or just check out the museum, which is pretty darn cool itself.
Bundle up and stay dry - happy thought, Solera rooftop movie series is coming up!

Superman spotted dancing around the May Pole
It's national Comic Book Day - did you stop in at your local comic shop and pick up your free book?
If you are still making a sad face over the Walkers dropping of the Music and Movies series - ok proper term is hiatus, but let's be serious - keep in mind the Minneapolis Parks & Rec board has it's own movies in the park series at several locations around town - including Lake Harriet.
Speaking of music - the line up for Grand Old Day is posted. Doomtree fans will be happy. Also look for Hookers & Blow, First Communion Afterparty, Red Pens and Free Energy. June 6th is quite a ways to way for a street fest fix - try the Lyn Lake Street Festival. You can find E.L.nO, Sims, even Har Mar.
And did I mention the ab-fab bike rally? This year the course is all Minneapolis. The day starts with Peace coffee and ends with Summit and live music. Do yourself a favor and get registered:
